A volunteer opportunity with Dragonfly!
Join Dragonfly to support orphanages or children's homes in different regions of Thailand. Although they're well provided for, the kids need more care and attention than the small staff teams can give. As a volunteer working closely with the children, you can help to fill this need!
Children in these homes have very often had traumatic experiences that have led to them being there. Some are orphans - disease, accidents, or disasters may have taken the lives of their parents. Some have been abandoned or have been taken into care to escape violence or extreme poverty. For volunteers, this placement will be both challenging and rewarding. More than anything, volunteers need patience, flexibility, and caring attitudes.
When you volunteer, you'll be able to help out in any number of ways. You can help to teach English through formal lessons or informal conversations, teach other skills that you may have, and lead learning activities with the children. You can also organize and run various fun activities including art projects, outings, walking tours, sports, and more. What the kids need most is attention and contact, as well as good guidance and role-modeling. You'll also need to take some initiative, helping with chores, building, repair work or anything else that needs to be done around the home.
