Volunteer Building to Aid Children in Thailand Dragonfly’s first building project of the 2008/09 dry season will be take place from late September through the first week of December of this year, and we’re looking for dynamic and hard-working volunteers to help out. The project will find volunteers working to build and repair various buildings at the site of a children’s home in northwestern Kanjanaburi province, near the Burmese border. This placement is real work, but it will make a real difference! You can watch a Dragonfly volunteer building project video here. This will open a new browser window.
The project will start with the construction of a new canteen and kitchen building, followed by preliminary work on a dorm for the home’s girls, who are presently living in the site’s library building. There are also several mud-brick buildings on site and there will be opportunities to repair old buildings and make bricks for new ones.
Because of the unusually long time-span of this project, we’re able to receive volunteers for shorter periods throughout the project. This means that rather than joining a team which stays for the duration, you can come and work when you’re able to, joining the work as it progresses. You can join in every 2 weeks and stay 2 weeks or more. Of course, you can stay for the long haul if you’re up for the challenge!
