Volunteer Opportunities

Meet Our Staff!

Dragonfly is a grassroots organization employing a small team of Thai and international staff who are doing it for the love. This is who we are:

Martin 'Marty' Walsh

volunteer

Position: Project Director

Responsibilities:
Martin is Dragonfly's webmaster and manages the orphanage care work project, general project planning, and marketing. He also handles logistics and planning for volunteer groups.
Hometown:
Reading, UK.
Background:
Martin left the rat race of London, where he worked as an art curator and a systems administrator, behind to travel the world. Ending up in Thailand and founding Dragonfly wasn't part of his plan, but it's working out well!
Favourite journey:
Trans-Siberian railway, from Beijing to Moscow

Daniel 'Dan' Lockwood

volunteer

Position: Project Manager

Responsibilities:
Dan manages Dragonfly's teaching and child sponsorship projects, trains teaching volunteers, writes informational materials, plans new projects, and works as a project leader and translator.
Hometown:
Calgary, Canada.
Background:
Dan holds a degree in earth sciences from Calgary and has worked as an English teacher for 5 years in South Korea and Thailand.
Favourite Band:
Hella (listen with caution!)

Piyanuch 'Ao' Bophimai

volunteer

Position: Volunteer Coordinator

Responsibilities:
Ao handles correspondence with most new contacts and volunteers, arranges placements with host schools and organizations, translates and prepares documents, and pretty much runs the place! She also leads our Thai language and Culture training sessions.
Hometown:
Phimai, Thailand.
Background:
Ao is currently finishing her master's degree in biochemistry at Khon Kaen University while working for Dragonfly.
Favourite Pastime:
going to the karaoke booth

Charlie 'Big Time' Crowson

volunteer

Position: Project Coordinator

Responsibilities:
Charlie, as the newest Dragonfly staff member, deals with building and maintaining relationships with the partner projects we work with and also brings his business background to help with marketing. In the future, he hopes to start Dragonfly volunteer projects in South America!
Home:
Wolverhampton, UK
Background:
After studying physics and TEFL and having taught for a few years, Charlie applied his skills to headhunting in London until the tube became just too dreary. Charlie wants to point out that he is "very handsome".
Favourite sauce:
Horseradish
